California pulls Covid-19 emergency brake

California is again introducing tougher measures in the fight against the pandemic due to rising corona numbers. The state must pull the emergency brake, said Governor Gavin Newsom. Last week, the most populous state in the United States passed the threshold of one million known corona infections. 40 million people live in California. For a good 94 percent of the population, strict requirements now apply again. Bars and fitness facilities have to close, restaurants can only serve outside or sell outside the home. Schools are only allowed to give online lessons. The state on the west coast issued corona restrictions very early on, but slowly relaxed them in recent months. Furthermore, you have to wear a face mask in public. According to the governor’s office, more than 18,200 people have died of coronavirus infection in California since the pandemic began. In terms of population, however, the west coast state is better off than many other states.
