Because they oppose him – Trump probably wants to fire FBI and CIA bosses

If Trump wins the US election, there is apparently already a high-profile hit list. According to a report, the president plans to crack down on the heads of the FBI, CIA and Pentagon – because they are not investigating in his favor. According to a report, US President Donald Trump plans to dismiss the chiefs of several security agencies in the event of an election victory. The Axios portal, citing two sources from the White House, reports that Trump wants to replace FBI Director Christopher Wray immediately after the election. In addition, CIA boss Gina Haspel and defense minister Mark Esper are at the top of his “hit list”, on which other high-ranking people should be noted. According to the sources, Trump wanted to fire Wray and Haspel earlier, but postponed the move due to the possible consequences for the upcoming election. Both are said to be “loathed” by almost the entire inner circle of the President.

Behind Trump’s attempt to replace Wray, according to the report, is Trump’s anger over the FBI chief’s refusal to open an official investigation into Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, over his business in Ukraine. Wray is also reported to have angered Trump for not firing people whom the president believed had abused their power to investigate Russia’s influence on Trump’s 2016 election. Wray’s open contradiction to Trump’s repeated claims that there was postal voting fraud also contributed to the dismissal plan.

Whoever stands in the way flies after the election

According to the report, the main conflict with CIA director Haspel lies in her opposition to the disclosure of documents intended to lead an investigation into Obama. Another source suggested, however, that Haspel might be able to anticipate a dismissal with her own resignation because of this conflict, regardless of the outcome of the election. Defense Secretary Esper is said to have fallen out of favor with Trump because he refused to send soldiers onto the streets of US metropolises in the summer to take action against “Black Lives Matter” demonstrators. Esper’s attempt to avoid Trump’s controversial photo op in front of a church in Washington D.C. to distance, have angered Trump. Esper has also wanted to replace Trump for some time, but was prevented from doing so – also because of the upcoming election. Should Trump win the election, the report believes he would feel empowered to fire all those he sees as an obstacle to carrying out his policies. The same applies to persons who prevented him from initiating investigations against opponents he perceived as “enemies”.
