Trump the liar – I will only lose the election 2020 if there is “massive election fraud” – what nonsense!

covid-19-world

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his conviction that he could only lose in the upcoming vote in the event of “massive election fraud”. The postal vote in particular is prone to fraud, Trump claimed on Monday during an election campaign in the city of Allentown in the state of Pennsylvania. “In my opinion, that’s the only way we can lose: massive election fraud,” said Trump. The Republican is currently behind his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in polls ahead of the November 3 presidential election. Trump has so far not provided any solid evidence for his repeated warnings of massive election fraud. Experts and even many Republicans have rejected Trump’s warnings. Election fraud is extremely rare in the US and is severely punished by the judiciary. Due to the corona pandemic, the authorities expect a massive expansion of postal votes, which is a challenge for many electoral offices. Many voters and government officials in the states see this type of voting as a good way to avoid the corona risk of voting at a polling station. The Democrats are also campaigning for postal votes. The Republican Trump, on the other hand, seems to see the postal vote as a ruse by his opponents to beat him with the help of a high voter turnout.

Record number of US voters take advantage of early voting

New record in the USA: more than 60 million Americans took advantage of the option of early voting before the presidential election – by postal vote or in person. This is based on the data published on Monday by the University of Florida by the “U.S. Elections Project ”. According to project manager Michael McDonald, the chances are good that the polls on November 3rd will reach the highest voter turnout in over a century. He expects around 150 million participants. This would mean that 65 percent of those eligible to vote would cast their vote – such a high turnout has not occurred among Americans, who are more likely to be grumpy voters, since 1908. The election campaign is marked by a strong polarization between the camp of Republican incumbent Donald Trump and the Democrats of his challenger Joe Biden. The already historically high proportion of early voters can also be attributed to the fact that many citizens in the corona pandemic shy away from the risk of infection when going to the polling stations on November 3rd. According to the “U.S. Elections Project ”is far more the means of postal voting than party supporters of the Republicans. Trump had repeatedly expressed the suspicion that postal votes could lead to election fraud. He did not provide any evidence for this. Trump himself had cast his vote on Saturday and also used the opportunity to cast before election day. The 74-year-old went to the polls in a public library near his golf club Mar-a-Lago. He had moved his residence to Florida last year – a so-called “swing state” with an uncertain election result, which Trump must absolutely win in order to remain in the White House.
