Oooops what was that? A few minutes ago, US President Donald Trump let loose one of his usual tirades about the rigged election, but also made the statement “He won, because ….” – “He won because …..”. What a guiding concession from the President’s mouth, if you take these first words to yourself: “He won”. In fact, Trump had never conceded Biden’s election victory, but rather loudly denied it. Perhaps the media coverage made him aware of his mistake. A few minutes ago Trump posted: “MANIPULATED ELECTION. WE WILL WIN” and continued after “I don’t give up anything at all”.
Trump: Biden has won – through fraud
Donald Trump admits for the first time via Twitter that his challenger Joe Biden won the US election – but through fraud. “He won because the election was rigged,” claims Trump in the tweet with which he responded to a statement made by a presenter on TV channel Fox News. Jesse Watters had expressed astonishment at how Biden could be ahead after having run such a weak campaign – “he didn’t really even campaign,” says Watters. Biden himself believed in defeat – “he ran a losing campaign”. The incumbent US president uses this template to once again express his allegations, some of which have already been refuted, that no election observers have been admitted and that the software has falsified the results. In the heat of the moment, Trump may have overlooked the fact that Trump actually starts the tweet with the statement “He won …”.
Biden wants to go back to daily press briefings
US President Donald Trump never felt comfortable in press meetings when journalists are usually allowed to ask questions. He ditched the traditional daily press briefing from the communications department in the White House and started politics on Twitter. When his successor Joe Biden is in office, the press briefings will start again, reports the US news magazine “Politico”.
“Proud Boys” encourage Trump to run for 2024
The right-wing extremist “Proud Boys” want to support another Trump candidacy in 2024: “He should definitely run again if he loses this time,” says Enrique Tarrio to the “Tagesspiegel”. Trump had declared in a TV duel with Biden in the direction of the “Proud Boys” during the election campaign that they should be “ready”. This had been interpreted by some as condoning violence, especially since the organization is also associated with violent riots such as in Charlottesville.
Biden wants a woman at the top of the Pentagon for the first time
According to US media reports, President-elect Joe Biden could appoint a woman to the head of the Pentagon for the first time. The long-time Pentagon official Michele Flournoy, who also belongs to the Democratic Party and was State Secretary in the Defense Ministry under Barack Obama, is therefore being discussed. With that she would inherit Christopher Miller, who was appointed acting Pentagon chief just a few days ago. He had moved to the position after Trump surprisingly fired previous head Mark Esper.
