With 12,472 new infections, the Czech Republic reports the highest value for a weekend day. This is almost 3,000 fewer cases than the previous day’s record of more than 15,000 for the first time – but the numbers are usually lower at the weekend because the authorities then often transmit less data. The total number of detected infections rose to 250,797, the number of deaths rose within 24 hours by 106 to 2077. In the country with just under eleven million inhabitants, the virus spreads fastest in Europe in terms of population.
