For the first time since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, there have been more than 3,000 new infections in Portugal. The health authorities in Lisbon announced that 3270 new infections with the Sars-CoV-2 virus had been reported within 24 hours. The previous maximum value (2608) registered on Friday was exceeded by 662 cases. For the three worst-affected districts of Felgueiras, Lousada and Paços de Ferreira in the north of the country, the government decided to take drastic measures for an initial week. The 150,000 people affected are only allowed to leave the house after midnight with good reason – for example to go to work or to the doctor. In these districts, which are not far from the metropolis of Porto, all shops have to close at 10 p.m.
