Poland goes into the Corona partial lockdown

Corona after Time

Poland has imposed another partial lockdown due to the sharp increase in the number of corona infections. “The pandemic is getting worse and worse, so we have to react decisively,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The country with its 38 million inhabitants had recorded a record increase in the number of cases this Wednesday with more than 24,000 infections within 24 hours. As a result, most shops in shopping centers have to close from Saturday. Only supermarkets, pharmacies and hairdressing salons are allowed to remain open. Cinemas, theaters and galleries will also be closed. Hotels are only allowed to accommodate business travelers. After older pupils and students had to switch to distance learning, the government has now ordered this for grades one to three as well. If the restrictions do not have any effect, a “nationwide quarantine” must be imposed “in a week, ten days,” explained Morawiecki. “It will be very painful.”
