In the fight against the second corona wave, public life in Lithuania is reduced to a minimum. In the Baltic EU country, all shops except shops for daily needs are to close from Wednesday and school operations are to be switched to distance learning. This was decided by the new government of Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte in its first session on Sunday in Vilnius. The regulation is to apply until January 31, 2021. The freedom of movement of the roughly three million inhabitants of Lithuania is also restricted: by order of the government, no one is allowed to travel to other cities and municipalities outside of their own place of residence without compelling reasons. The house or apartment may also only be left for good reason – for work, medical treatment, shopping or a funeral. Contacts are also restricted to one family or household.
