Baltimore has played a major role in Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony’s life. After moving from Brooklyn to West Baltimore at age 8, Anthony said the city helped shape the person he is today.

Jordan Brand decided to pay homage to Anthony’s Baltimore upbringing with the Air Jordan 1 Low “Baltimore Crab” PE. This low-cut sneaker was designed to represent the 10-time All-Star’s love for the city, crabs and his favorite seasoning, Old Bay, according to a news release from Nike.

The Orange overlay is meant to represent the color of a crab, while the brown tongue and toe box represent the Old Bay seasoning.

The shoe box takes inspiration from the Old Bay seasoning container while highlighting Anthony’s accolades such as his three Olympic gold medals, the 2003 NCAA championship title with Syracuse and his countless NBA All-Star appearances.

“Some great flavors for over 16 years” is featured on the insole and box as well, along with the different teams he has played for over his 16 seasons, the release continues. The side of the shoe box showcases Anthony’s career statistics.

The Air Jordan 1 Low “Baltimore Crab” is a one-of-one shoe and will not be released to the public.
