Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has been hospitalized after he went into self-isolation among his employees due to suspected corona. The health of the 74-year-old gave “no cause for concern,” said his office. Tebboune would continue “his daily activities”. “On the recommendation of his doctors,” the president was taken to the military hospital in Algiers. On Saturday, Tebboune went into self-isolation after several employees were suspected of having a corona infection. In Algeria, there has been a renewed increase in the number of infections in the past two weeks. In the North African country with 44 million inhabitants, almost 57,000 cases were registered and more than 1930 people died as a result of the viral disease.
