A man who died in a shootout with Arapahoe County deputies late Saturday night, who was shot multiple times, has been identified and deputies involved in the shooting are on administrative leave.

Keith Wayne Homrighausen, 49, died of gunshot wounds and his manner of death is a homicide, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office performed an autopsy on Monday.

The incident began around 9:45 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 5200 block of South Jericho Street, in Centennial, when deputies were called for a fight between two men — one armed with a gun — at a family gathering, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies tried to talk to one of the men when they arrived, but he went into a garage and “barricaded himself,” said Ginger Delgado, a spokeswoman. He then opened the garage door and shot at deputies, who shot back, firing multiple times.

Deputies involved in the incident have been place on paid administrative leave while the incident is being investigated by the 18th Judicial District Critical Response Team. Deputy John Bartmann, a spokesman, could not say Tuesday how many deputies are on leave.
