Scuffles in Pennsylvania: Angry Trump supporters want to “keep fighting”

Specifically, it is about an order of the state that was changed two days before the election on November 3rd. This stipulated that postal voters could submit missing proof of identity three days longer than previously planned, namely until November 12th. The order followed a decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The court ruled that all postal votes received up to three days after the election, i.e. until November 6th, are valid in the state. The responsible State Secretary, Kathy Boockvar, then changed the deadline for clarifying problems with proof of identity for postal votes. In the US, votes can be cast “provisionally” in elections if the authorities are unsure whether the person concerned has the right to vote in the district. In Pennsylvania, problems with such evidence can be resolved up to six days after the election, i.e. by November 9th. Boockvar ruled, following the ruling of her state’s Supreme Court, that this period for postal votes does not start until three days after the election.

Further lawsuits pending

The unauthorized determination by the democratic politician was not legal, according to the current judgment. Votes from voters who registered between November 10 and 12 to clarify their identity should not be counted. It is unlikely that the verdict will have a decisive impact on the election result in Pennsylvania. According to the current count (99 percent), Joe Biden has a lead of around 40,000 votes. However, Trump’s lawyers are trying to use further trials to turn the election result in favor of the incumbent president. The lawyers are also challenging the original decision of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, which extended the deadline for postal votes. Another indictment involves thousands of ballot papers, which, according to the Trump campaign team, were illegally counted even though they were incomplete.
