North Korean security forces shot a South Korean official in an incident in the state’s marine area, according to Seoul. As the South Korean Ministry of Defense announced, the 47-year-old employee of the fisheries authority disappeared from his patrol boat under unclear circumstances and then ended up in North Korean waters. The man was then shot by North Korean security forces, said the Defense Ministry in Seoul on the basis of the analysis of intelligence information. His body was then cremated in North Korea. The South Korean Ministry called the incident “egregious”. All responsibility for the incident rests with North Korea.
