During anti-lockdown protests in several British cities, police arrested dozens of people over the weekend. Most affected were Liverpool in the north-west of England, Basildon in the east of England and Bournemouth on the south coast. In England, a partial lockdown with severe contact restrictions ends on December 2nd. Schools and universities are open. The demonstrators were arrested, among other things, because they had violated corona protective measures or had become violent towards emergency services. The city of Liverpool and its surroundings are particularly hard hit by the pandemic. A police spokesman called the demonstrators’ behavior there “selfish”, they endangered themselves and other human lives.
