After a rise in corona cases in southern Thailand, the country’s largest seafood market has been closed. As the local authorities announced, 548 cases of infection are linked to the market in Mahachai in Samut Sakhon province. A strict curfew and lockdown should apply in the area until the end of January. Schools, sports stadiums and shopping centers have to close. However, the local elections on Sunday should take place as planned. Foreign migrant workers were banned from leaving the province. Thailand has come through the Corona crisis comparatively well so far. Nationwide, just over 4,000 infections and 60 deaths have been registered.
