South Africa is hardest hit. After the number of new infections fell in the fall, the government reduced the night curfew to six hours at the end of September. The ban on alcohol sales, which caused a lot of displeasure, has been eased. The borders have been reopened since October 1st. Travelers must have a negative test. At the end of November, however, the numbers rose again to over 4,000 new infections per day. The poor Eastern Cape province is particularly hard hit.
