Trump’s ancestors banned from Bavaria / Germany for fleeing the military – The lie of the German emigrant grandfather Friedrich Trump

Belarus

Another episode from the rubric, Donald Trump doesn’t always tell the truth!

US President Trump has already asserted several times that his father was born in Germany. Years ago, Trump stated that his family came from Sweden. Both statements are wrong. When it comes to politics in Germany, US President Donald Trump has already stressed his ties to the country several times. Trump said on April 2 that he has a great respect for Germany. And further: his father was German, born in a wonderful place in Germany.

But this statement is wrong, as various fact checkers have documented. Politifact refers to the author Gwenda Blair, who wrote a book about the Trump family. It says that Friedrich Trump, Donald’s grandfather, emigrated from Germany in 1885. That is why the then 16-year-old was not drafted into the German military.

Friedrich Trump came from Kallstadt an der Weinstrasse – just like Johann Heinrich Heinz, father of the Heinz ketchup company founder Henry John Heinz. There is even a film about Kallstadt that searches for traces of famous families.

Because of his wife Elisabeth Christ, a neighbor from Kallstadt, Trump’s grandfather returned to Germany again. But he was considered a military service refugee – and therefore the authorities banned Friedrich Trump from Bavarian territory, as documents show: On July 1, 1905, the Trumps left Hamburg for good. Three months later, Frederick Trump, Donald Trump’s father, was born – in New York.

There he became a multimillionaire as a real estate entrepreneur. In the 1970s, he handed over management to his son Donald, and Fred Trump died in 1999.

Sweden named as origin

Donald Trump has already said several times that his father was born in Germany, most recently at a press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Why the US President claims this remains unclear.

In the 1980s, Trump claimed in the book “The Art of the Deal” that his father came to the USA from Sweden as a boy, which is also incorrect, as various media have made clear. When asked why the Trumps had said this, Donald Trump told The Boston Globe that his father had spent time in Sweden. And during the Second World War it was not necessarily useful for business to come from Germany.
