“It’s Joe Time” – Murdoch newspaper reads Trump the riot act

William-and-Kate

The relationship between Donald Trump and the media can generally be described as tense. During his tenure, however, the elected president could rely on conservative newspapers and broadcasters such as the “New York Post” and Fox News. This is no longer the case. The conservative newspaper “New York Post” turns away from President Donald Trump in the dispute over the election result in the USA. In an article, the newspaper’s commentators wrote that Trump had done a lot for the country – but that he must stop the conspiracy theory of the “stolen election” if he did not want to “marginalize” his own voice. At the same time, the newspaper published an unusually positive article about the newly elected President Joe Biden entitled “It’s Joe Time” (“It’s time for Joe”). Just a few weeks ago, the New York Post published one of the most damning articles about Joe Biden’s son Hunter. It was based on questionable sources and brought criticism nationwide.

The newspaper had tried in several articles to link Joe Biden to his son Hunter Biden’s previous dealings in Ukraine and China. The paper published emails alleging that Hunter Biden was trying to profit from his father’s office as vice president at the time. The newspaper also evaluated the emails as evidence that Joe Biden, contrary to his testimony, had known about his son’s controversial foreign business. Joe Biden denies that he was guilty of anything. The authenticity of the mails has not been confirmed. It is also questionable how the emails found their way to the public. They are said to have been found on a laptop in a repair shop. The “New York Post” claims to have received a copy of the hard drive from Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer and close confidante. The copy was made by the owner of the repair shop before the laptop was confiscated by the FBI in December 2019, the newspaper reported.

Trump yells at Murdoch what’s wrong with Fox News?

Hunter Biden was a member of the supervisory board of the gas company Burisma between 2014 and 2019. Trump accused Biden, among other things, of using his office as Vice President in the Barack Obama administration (until 2017) to try to protect his son from the Ukrainian judiciary. Biden rejects that. Trump wanted to get investigations in Ukraine. The conflict sparked impeachment proceedings against the Republican, which failed in February due to a Republican majority in the Senate. The New York Post is owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who also owns the Fox TV network. Influential news channel Fox News is considered Trump’s “home and yard” broadcaster. The incumbent president calls many of his moderators “friends”. But Fox News also showed a more resolute line towards Trump and headlined: “President Trump has not given himself up to the elected president.” Previously, the station had already attributed Biden to the state of Arizona earlier than the competition in the vote count and thus drew Trump’s anger.
