Pompeo had previously blamed Russia for the large-scale cyberattack on American government institutions. It can now be said “fairly clearly” that the Russians were behind the attack, said Pompeo in a radio interview. Russia has rejected any link to the hacking attack. Trump also downplayed the scale and risk of the cyberattack in his tweet. The attack is presented in the “lying media” far larger than it actually is. “I have been given full information and everything is under full control,” he wrote. The US agency for cyber and infrastructure security (CISA) had classified the hacking attack as “serious danger” for the federal government, for governments of states and local authorities, for the critical infrastructure and for private sector organizations, and stated that the attack had lasted at least since March on.
