A case of the new mutation was also discovered in the Netherlands. The national health authority had recommended “preventing this virus variant from the UK from entering as much as possible”. In order to avoid further introduction, there is now an entry freeze for air passengers. Machines that come from the UK are no longer allowed to land in the Netherlands for the time being. The flight ban from Great Britain had been decided by the cabinet of Prime Minister Mark Rutte “as a precaution”, said the Ministry of Health. It should come into force on Sunday at 6 a.m. and apply until January 1st. Possible rules for other traffic routes are currently being reviewed.
