Hop­ing to dine on a heat­ed restau­rant patio or inside a pri­vate green­house or yurt this sea­son? Under the Lev­el Red restric­tions, these on-site din­ing options are still pos­si­ble. And we’ve com­piled a list of more than 150 of them around Den­ver to get you start­ed, orga­nized by neighborhood.

While I can’t attest to them all, one in par­tic­u­lar made a last­ing impres­sion just a few week­ends ago. Before the indoor clo­sure and the lat­est spike in COVID-19 cas­es, a friend and I decid­ed to dress up and go out to din­ner for the last time like­ly for a long while.

We end­ed up at a High­land neigh­bor­hood spot, Aco­va. While you might know this loca­tion bet­ter by its long-run­ning restau­rant pre­de­ces­sor, Patsy’s, for the past 2½ years Bet­sy Work­man has been run­ning the new busi­ness with a clear focus on her sur­round­ing community.

If you stop by any­time soon for heat­ed out­door din­ing, you might find Work­man at the host stand, mea­sur­ing tape in hand (to make sure tables are always spaced accord­ing­ly). Acova’s Nava­jo Street-side seat­ing is roomy with plen­ty of scat­tered heaters. And it’s open all day, with dish­es like bread pud­ding French toast or tamale hash for week­end brunch, and pork posole green chile or beer-bat­tered cod and chips for dinner.

I first fell for Acova’s red and white wine slushies served on the same patio dur­ing sum­mer­time. But a dirty chai or hot tod­dy this sea­son are just as lov­able, as is the whole neigh­bor­hood oper­a­tion. Here are oth­er spots to check out this season.
