The World Health Orga­ni­za­tion (WHO) has expressed con­cern about the mas­sive­ly accel­er­at­ed spread of the nov­el coro­n­avirus in Europe. “We are wit­ness­ing an explo­sion” in the num­ber of cas­es on the con­ti­nent, said WHO Region­al Direc­tor for Europe, Hans Kluge. The death rate among those infect­ed with coro­na is also increas­ing “grad­u­al­ly”. Kluge called on the Euro­pean states to take “tar­get­ed and appro­pri­ate” coun­ter­mea­sures to con­tain the pan­dem­ic. How­ev­er, the schools should remain open “until the end” and only stop class­room teach­ing in extreme cases.
