Texas is the first US state to exceed the thresh­old of one mil­lion con­firmed coro­na infec­tions. Over 1,003,000 cas­es were count­ed there by Sat­ur­day. This is fol­lowed by Cal­i­for­nia with around 967,600 detect­ed infec­tions. World­wide, only nine coun­tries have more cas­es of infec­tion than Texas, which has 29 mil­lion inhab­i­tants and more than ten per­cent of all infec­tions in the USA. With over 9.8 mil­lion infec­tions and more than 230,000 deaths, the US remains the hard­est hit coun­try in the world by the pandemic.
