Despite a slow­down in growth in the new Covid infec­tion in Switzer­land, a com­mit­tee of experts is call­ing for stricter mea­sures to con­tain the pan­dem­ic. “The task force has no sci­en­tif­ic evi­dence that the mea­sures are suf­fi­cient,” said its head, Mar­tin Ack­er­mann. The coun­try is in a risky sit­u­a­tion because it is unclear whether the num­ber of repro­duc­tions will drop below one and thus infect one infec­tious per­son less than anoth­er per­son. “If we do not suc­ceed, more peo­ple in Switzer­land would short­ly no longer receive ade­quate med­ical care,” said Ack­er­mann, whose task force advis­es the gov­ern­ment. He brought the clo­sure of bars, restau­rants and some of the shops into play.
