Despite a slowdown in growth in the new Covid infection in Switzerland, a committee of experts is calling for stricter measures to contain the pandemic. “The task force has no scientific evidence that the measures are sufficient,” said its head, Martin Ackermann. The country is in a risky situation because it is unclear whether the number of reproductions will drop below one and thus infect one infectious person less than another person. “If we do not succeed, more people in Switzerland would shortly no longer receive adequate medical care,” said Ackermann, whose task force advises the government. He brought the closure of bars, restaurants and some of the shops into play.
