“Pack your shit and go” — Trump was defeated at golf

When the American media announces Joe Biden’s election victory, Donald Trump arrives at one of his golf clubs. He plays, is cheered and drives back to the White House four hours later. Shortly before half past five in Germany, at 11:24 a.m. East Coast time in the USA, the time has come: CNN is the first broadcaster to announce the election victory of the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. For many Americans, this will be a moment that they will know where they were at that point for their entire lives. Biden’s future vice president, for example, appears to have been jogging. Less than an hour after breaking news on CNN, she posted an eight-second long film on Twitter in which she stands in the country, wears sports gear, has a cell phone on her ear and says, beaming: “We did it, Joe. You will be next Be President of the United States. ” Then she still laughs. The elected president’s lawyers were in Philadelphia at the time, holding a press conference that Donald Trump had previously announced on Twitter. He had originally announced it for 11 a.m. local time, then for 11:30 a.m. Half an hour earlier, someone might have been interested in what Rudy Giuliani and colleagues had to say on the premises of a horticultural company.

(For the sake of completeness, Giuliani brought me three election observers who said they had been prevented from adequately following the count. The former New York mayor said he had 25 written statements and spoke to a total of 50 election observers who had similar stories . “I could have brought about 50,” said Giuliani. But he didn’t do that because “50 is too much”.) And what did the president do at this important moment? He did what he has done so many times over the past four years that there are websites that keep track of the number of times he does it: He played golf and was cheered by viewers, as seen on a Twitter video. After golfing, he posed for a photo with a woman in a wedding dress who got married on the same day at his golf club in Virginia. It was the first foray out of the White House since the presidential election last Tuesday. According to the tweets, the President did not comment on the election result. According to a report from the journalists who accompanied Trump, Trump arrived at the golf club at 10:39 a.m. local time and left it again at 2:32 p.m. At 3:12 p.m. the motorcade was back at the White House. Trump waved to the journalists and disappeared into the building without a word.

According to the so-called pool reports, Trump’s motorcade was shown the sign of the thumb stretched down on the way to the club. The cars also drove past a person who was wearing a sign that read “Good Riddance”, for example: Goodbye. Another sign advised the President: “Pack your shit and go”. The reason why the number of times Trump plays golf is included is that he repeatedly accused his predecessor Barack Obama of playing golf instead of governing during his tenure.
