In Latvia, the num­ber of new coro­na infec­tions reached a new high on Sat­ur­day with 404 cas­es with­in 24 hours. Accord­ing to the health author­i­ty in Riga, the num­ber of cas­es record­ed since the begin­ning of the pan­dem­ic in the spring in the Baltic EU coun­try rose to 7880. Accord­ing to offi­cial data, a total of 96 peo­ple died in con­nec­tion with the virus. To con­tain the pan­dem­ic, the gov­ern­ment in Riga has declared a state of emer­gency for the sec­ond time. There is a state of emer­gency in Latvia from Mon­day until Decem­ber 6th, which restricts pub­lic life and eco­nom­ic activities.
