Most Republicans are silent — the more Trump rages, the more lonely he looks

The allegations of US President Donald Trump could hardly be more serious: The incumbent speaks of massive election fraud in favor of Joe Biden. But with a few exceptions, he receives little support from his party. Some Republicans even sharply criticize Trump. The US President speaks out on the presidential count, and most of the major news networks simply shut down because the incumbent is spreading unsubstantiated allegations of fraud. That is probably unique in the history of the oldest democracy in the world. The OSCE election observers, who did not detect any irregularities either on election day or in the postal vote, also say that there is nothing in Trump’s allegations.

Wittich: “Announced” Biden takes a narrow lead in Georgia

From the environment of the president it is said that employees tried to prevent the appearance on Thursday evening. His eldest son, Donald Trump junior, on the other hand, went much further. He even wrote about the “Total War” on Twitter and immediately resorted to a martial choice of words that evening in Georgia: “I think the most important thing that Donald Trump can do in this election is to fight each of these fights to the death . ”

Trump wants to go to the Supreme Court

Trump’s allegation of illegal votes is directed against the postal votes, which — contrary to the President’s suggestion — were not included in the count retrospectively, but are only last in line. Because Biden supporters worried about Covid in particular have made use of this option, while Trump has been warning against postal votes for months and downplaying the corona risk, the majority of these votes are mostly in favor of challenger Biden. Trump doesn’t want to see that. He announced lawsuits and raged on his Twitter channel. “I have the feeling that in the end judges will have to decide,” he said in his address. In fact, his campaign team has filed lawsuits in Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania. In the first two states, however, judges immediately dismissed her. Observers assume that the other lawsuits are unlikely to have a major impact on the outcome of the election.

Sharp criticism from Maryland, Donald Jr. calls for “total war” US stations shut down Trump speech

Given Trump’s handling of the electoral process, even some Republicans can only shake their heads. “There is no justification for the president’s remarks tonight that are undermining our democratic process,” Maryland Republican governor Larry Hogan said on Twitter. “America counts the votes and we must respect the results as we have always done. No choice or person is more important than our democracy,” Hogan continued. In an interview with the station PBS, he accused Trump and his camp of having prepared the ground for the current procedure — the questioning of the results — with warnings about the postal vote. Hogan is the chairman of the National Association of Governors. Congressman Adam Kinzinger called for evidence of fraud allegations to be presented and presented in court. “Stop spreading exposed misinformation … This is getting crazy,” he wrote on Twitter. Former Republican Senator Jeff Flake was never a friend of Trump’s but now wrote quite clearly: “No Republican should agree with the president’s remarks anymore. Unacceptable. Period.”

Biden’s team plans victory speech Biden passes Trump in Georgia

Texas Republican MP Will Hurd said Trump’s unproven allegations were “dangerous and false”. “They are undermining the foundation on which this nation was built,” wrote Hurd.

Graham remains loyal to Trump

Trump received support, however, mainly from Lindsey Graham, the chairman of the judiciary committee in the Senate. He said on Fox News that he wanted to support Trump’s lawsuits in the contested states with $ 500,000. Graham said the city of Philadelphia, which could potentially win the race in Pennsylvania in Trump’s favor, was “a snake wrong.” He wants to support Trump.  In addition, prominent Republicans have so far held back — both with support and criticism of Trump. Vice President Mike Pence reiterated his support for Trump and called for every legal vote to be counted. However, he did not explicitly endorse the fraud allegations.
