A 54-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after he fired multiple shots inside and outside a south Lakewood home, police said.
At about 3:55 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block of South Sheridan Boulevard on a report of shots fired, police said in a news release.
Surrounding neighbors were told to stay inside their homes and shelter in place. The West Metro SWAT Team responded to the scene.

Over several hours, police attempted to persuade the suspect, identified as Vernon Hazel, to exit the home. Instead, Hazel fired intermittent gun rounds.
At about 10:35 p.m., the SWAT team entered the home and arrested Hazel without further incident, police said. No one was injured.
Hazel was arrested and jailed on suspicion of illegal discharge of a firearm.
