On Fri­day, US Pres­i­dent Trump expressed con­cern about the health of his younger broth­er. Now Robert Trump has died at the age of 71. The rela­tion­ship between the two was con­sid­ered very good.

The broth­er of US Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, Robert Trump, is dead. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce that my won­der­ful broth­er Robert died peace­ful­ly this evening,” said Trump on Sat­ur­day evening (local time). “Not only was he my broth­er, he was my best friend. He will be missed very much, but we will meet again.” Robert Trump would have been 72 years old on August 26, as report­ed by the Wash­ing­ton Post and Fox News.

Don­ald Trump expressed con­cern about the health of his younger broth­er on Fri­day and report­ed that he was in the hos­pi­tal. There he had vis­it­ed him again. The White House did not share details of the 71-year-old’s ill­ness. Robert Trump is said to have been sick for sev­er­al months, as report­ed by the New York Times and CNN.

Trump is in the mid­dle of the elec­tion cam­paign — sev­er­al appear­ances in var­i­ous states are planned for the com­ing week, par­al­lel to the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Par­ty con­fer­ence. It is still unclear whether the death would affect this. Among oth­er things, Trump wants to per­form on Thurs­day not far from the birth­place of his rival Joe Biden in Penn­syl­va­nia. The US elec­tion will take place on Novem­ber 3rd, in around 80 days.
