Jeffco high school goes remote after 3 students test positive for COVID-19

Jef­fer­son Jr./Sr. High School in Edge­wa­ter has moved all of its stu­dents to remote learn­ing fol­low­ing three pos­i­tive cas­es of COVID-19.

Jef­f­co Pub­lic Schools was made aware of one stu­dent who test­ed pos­i­tive for the virus on Sept. 8, the first day of in-per­son class­es, said dis­trict spokes­woman Cameron Bell. On Sept. 15, two oth­er stu­dent cas­es were report­ed, she said.

Stu­dents will learn remote­ly through Sept. 28.

Jef­fer­son Jr./Sr. High School is one of sev­er­al Den­ver-area insti­tu­tions to tran­si­tion to a remote learn­ing for­mat fol­low­ing pos­i­tive COVID-19 cas­es. This week, Cher­ry Creek High School moved more than 1,700 stu­dents online after six cas­es were detect­ed. Ear­li­er this month, Her­itage High School in Lit­tle­ton sim­i­lar­ly piv­ot­ed to remote learn­ing after too many teach­ers were quar­an­tined to be able to con­duct in-per­son classes.
