In the state of Georgia, not only is Donald Trump’s lead shrinking: after counting 96 percent of the votes, the president is ahead of Joe Biden with 49.6 percent, who is just behind with 49.2 percent. The race for the Senate seat will also be unexpectedly exciting. Senator David Perdue is only 50.0 percent, his Democratic challenger Jon Osoff at 47.6 percent. If no candidate gets at least 50 percent of the vote straight away, there will be a runoff election in January. There could also be a runoff in North Carolina. As of now, both parties will each have 48 seats out of a total of 100.
Senator from Pennsylvania expects Biden victory in his state
The embattled state of Pennsylvania Democratic Senator Bob Casey awaits Joe Biden’s victory in his home state. Casey told CNN the votes would be coming in from metropolitan Philadelphia that morning. “And if that comes in, just the Philadelphia one, it could make the difference in Joe Biden’s direction.” Casey also expects the suburban communities of Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware to have voted very strongly for Biden.
According to a count by Edison Research, Trump in Pennsylvania is after counting 89 percent of the votes with 50.7 percent of the vote in front of Biden, who currently comes to 48.1 percent. With 20 electoral votes to be given, Pennsylvania alone could secure the presidency of Biden.
Georgia, Nevada, Arizona: When will new numbers come
Here is an overview of when new results from the states that are still open can be expected in the course of the afternoon and evening:
A press conference is scheduled in Georgia. Around 90,000 votes remain to be counted in the state.
New numbers are expected from Clarke County, Nevada. In the state, Biden currently has a lead of only 8,000 votes.
Maricopa County, Arizona plans to publish new numbers. Last night it was said that around 250,000 votes had not yet been counted.
