In response to the dras­tic increase in infec­tions with the coro­na virus in Eng­land, the gov­ern­ment is intro­duc­ing heavy fines for vio­lat­ing the quar­an­tine rules. “We can best fight the virus if every­one abides by the rules and goes into self-iso­la­tion as soon as there is a risk that they could spread the coro­n­avirus,” said Prime Min­is­ter Boris John­son. The min­i­mum fine for vio­la­tions should be the equiv­a­lent of 1,100 euros, repeat offend­ers face fines of up to 11,000 euros.
