In Geor­gia, Joe Biden can almost dou­ble his lead over Don­ald Trump: In the lat­est update from the con­test­ed swing state, the dif­fer­ence between the two oppo­nents grew from around 4400 votes to cur­rent­ly 7,248 votes. This means that elec­tion observers see a real chance for Geor­gia that if Biden wins the elec­tion, the result will be so clear that it does not have to be auto­mat­i­cal­ly re-count­ed. Auto­mat­ic recount­ing becomes nec­es­sary if there is a dif­fer­ence of 0.5 per­cent or less. CNN sees the sur­pris­ing­ly good course for Biden due, among oth­er things, to the fact that a large num­ber of black vot­ers vot­ed for Biden. Geor­gia sends 16 vot­ers to the elec­toral body and is a “must win” for Trump. With­out a vic­to­ry in the tra­di­tion­al­ly repub­li­can state, Trump has no chance of win­ning the election.
