At the French Open in Paris, in all probability, significantly fewer spectators than previously assumed will be able to the tennis matches. The French government announced that from Saturday a limit of 1000 people for major events will also apply in the capital. There is no official announcement from the tournament website yet. “The situation is getting worse,” said Health Minister Oliver Veran on French television: “Above all, the pressure on hospitals requires that we take additional measures.” Most recently, the organizers assumed 5000 fans per day at the facility, previously they had expected 11,500 spectators. The number of new corona infections in neighboring Germany has recently risen significantly, France is one of the countries in Europe severely affected by the pandemic.
