In France, more than 40,000 peo­ple have now died of a coro­na infec­tion. With 306 new deaths with­in 24 hours, the country’s vic­tim bal­ance rose to 40,169 coro­na deaths on Sat­ur­day, as the health author­i­ties announced. The num­ber of new infec­tions from Sat­ur­day was not report­ed, the day before it had reached a new high with more than 60,000 infec­tions with­in 24 hours. In view of the mas­sive increase in coro­na infec­tions, fear of over­bur­den­ing hos­pi­tals is grow­ing in France. There are cur­rent­ly 4410 patients in France’s inten­sive care units, at the begin­ning of the week there were 3721 patients.
