Even if there are more and more women who live out their sexual lust openly, the porn industry is still a male domain. In many (male gaze) porn, the actresses are humiliated and serve exclusively the selfish pleasure of the male viewer. Nevertheless, women are ing porn more and more often. It is not an exaggeration to say that the Millennium Generation has come of age with porn use. Access to sex films has never been easier than it is today. The 22-year-old Lena says that it was not her parents who informed her, not even the school or — the youth magazine “Bravo”, as was the case with the kids from the eighties and nineties — but exclusively porn from the Internet. Survey of thousands of men who pornography are more likely to have erectile dysfunction. Her sexual fantasies, she freely tells the story, relate largely to what she has seen in sex films. First and foremost, that sounds not only sad, but almost serene, unemotional, sterile. So no palpitations before the first intense French kiss? No tingling sensation when your first friend almost shyly slips his hand under the T‑shirt? “Yes, yes,” argues Lena, “but I also like it when he hits me hard”. Like Lena, Marion also says that she thoroughly enjoys it when — while she is having sex with her partner — a porno is running: “No hardcore film, something classic, also full of clichés for me”.
Marion and Lena are just two of many women who love to porn. Both say they especially like the raw, the explicit representation of the scenes, which after a bit of banter between the protagonists are limited to the purely sexual act. Marion says: “When I’m horny, I don’t want to see a romance film in which a literature professor recites poems by Goethe to his student.”
Porn is for everyone
In 2018 one of the most famous porn websites carried out a study. Accordingly, 24 percent of the consumers of their Internet offer were women, in the previous year the figure was 21 percent. Although, according to another study, almost every third woman deals with pornographic content at least once a week, the stereotype that porn is predominantly, if not exclusively, consumed by men persists. A victim tells when porn and sex become an addiction. But unlike men, many women find it uncomfortable to say that they are consuming porn. The taboo on female porn consumption also has something to do with the fear of slutshaming. A woman who shamelessly expresses her lust still receives the stamp of being a slut in our oh-so tolerant society. In this context it seems almost grotesque to refer to women who deny or reject the consumption of porn as “frigid” or “uptight”.
Lena openly admits to sitting at her computer at least three times a week and ing porn. Mostly “normal porn,” she says. When asked what “normal porn” is for her, she replies: “None in which women are continuously penetrated and tilled.” Most of all, she excites the lust of the man in porn, who can no longer take it and is lusting after the woman. It is animal sex, connected with recognizing in the faces of women often only feigned lust, but never shame.
