George Ahearn, who grew up in the farm­ing town of Oth­el­lo, Wash­ing­ton, co-found­ed East­West Food Res­cue after learn­ing that Covid-19 was cost­ing local farm­ers so much busi­ness that they were will­ing to destroy their crops.
