Denver weather: Cool-off continues with a chance of afternoon storms

The cool­er weath­er con­tin­ues today with a chance of thun­der­storms in the afternoon.

The Den­ver area will be part­ly sun­ny with a high of 82 degrees, accord­ing to the Nation­al Weath­er Ser­vice. Tonight’s low should be around 58 degrees.

There’s a 50% chance of thun­der­storms after 2 p.m.

Sun­day warms up a bit with a high tem­per­a­ture of 89 degrees under sun­ny skies and a slight chance of after­noon thunderstorms.

Mon­day and Tues­day will see tem­per­a­tures in the high 70s to low 80s with a chance of after­noon rain. Wednes­day is fore­cast to be sun­ny with a high of 88 degrees.

Den­ver had 17 days in a row with temps of at least 90 degrees from Aug. 11 to Aug. 27. This year is now sec­ond on the list with 67 days over 90 degrees; 2012 had 73 such days.

The moun­tains today will see scat­tered rain show­ers and high tem­per­a­tures rang­ing from 54 to 64 degrees. High temps on the East­ern Plains will range from 74 to 84 degrees.

Smoke con­di­tions should improve over north cen­tral and north­east­ern Col­orado through Sat­ur­day night.
