For those Americans who do not follow Trump in his fantasies of fraud, there are signs of an end to patience. An example of this is Senator Ben Cardin, a Democrat from Maryland. On one of Trump’s most recent tweets (see below) he only wrote “Go to sleep”. Many other Democratic politicians have expressed similar annoyance. As Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer wrote, “No matter how many conspiracy theories Trump hires or fires, Joe Biden will be the next President of the United States and Kamala Harris the next Vice President of the United States.” However, Biden’s reaction is unsurpassed, who simply said in the first TV debate in the midst of Trump’s tirades: “Will you just shut up?” — Loosely translated: “Just shut up.”
Republican Senator calls for transition process
Another Senator from the ranks of the Republicans is calling on the Trump administration to start the process of handover to Joe Biden. Lisa Murkowski, who represents Alaska, wrote on Twitter that the states had made sure that the elections were free and fair. President Trump has so far not had any success with his legal objections in court. So it is now time to begin the transition process. Murkowski also criticized the “pressure” that was exerted on individual MPs. By this she should mean the invitation from Trump to two MPs from Michigan. The President probably wanted to prevent them from officially completing the count there. Murkowski congratulated Biden on winning the election two weeks ago. The votes of senators carry a lot of weight because they have a huge impact on the legislative process. So far, only a handful of Republicans have spoken in favor of Biden.
“New York Times”: Election was a great success
The scramble over the election results wrongly overshadows the polls, writes the New York Times in a comment on behalf of the editorial board: “The 2020 election was not only free of fraud or what kind of irritating irregularity It’s been a huge success from an administrative standpoint. With a raging pandemic and the highest voter turnout in more than a century, Americans have one of the safest, most accurate, and best-organized elections of all time Enjoyed. And that’s not just us saying. Listen to the state and local officials who were charged with overseeing this process. (…) Such a bipartisan consensus might lead some people to conclude that the dire warnings The elections were excessive. It is not. There have been many serious threats. There have been massive logistical issues he obstacles to holding an election during a deadly pandemic outbreak (…) The failure to collapse is thanks to months of hard work and selfless commitment by tens of thousands of Americans across the country: state and local election officials, volunteer election workers, overworked postmen helpful neighbors and generous philanthropists. ”
