Covid-19 patient in Mexico gets new lungs

Accord­ing to a hos­pi­tal in Mex­i­co, a lung trans­plant on a Covid 19 patient was suc­cess­ful. Accord­ing to a report, the 55-year-old had already been oper­at­ed on for sev­en hours in a clin­ic in the city of Mon­ter­rey on August 31. He had pre­vi­ous­ly been arti­fi­cial­ly ven­ti­lat­ed for 52 days after falling ill in June. “With­out the trans­plant, the patient’s life expectan­cy was zero,” sur­geon Manuel Wong Jaén is quot­ed as say­ing. The man is on the way to recov­ery. He will have a prac­ti­cal­ly nor­mal qual­i­ty of life.
