A young child was struck and killed by a driver who then fled the scene Thursday evening in Denver’s Westwood neighborhood.

Denver police said officers were at the scene of the crash at the intersection of South Lowell Boulevard and Morrison Road just after 7 p.m. Thursday and said that the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m.

The police department said the child was under 10 years old and died as a result of their injuries and that the driver had fled the scene.

Denver police did not release the gender or specific age of the child and did not provide a description of the suspect vehicle.
