Are members of the military allowed to have their location on various social media sites?

Just a civilian with a question, the title basically explains it in a nutshell.

Basically, I was on snapchat earlier today and noticed somebody I hadn’t spoken to in a while posted a picture. I checked out their profile and realized they had their location on. The area looked super foreign so I checked it out. Started to look like a military base, made sense seeing as the picture post included a uniform. I was pretty interested so I found out it’s Camp Casey (South Korea).

Back to my question. I was curious as to whether or not military personnel are allowed to have their locations turned on. Seems like a huge liability/security risk in my opinion… but I’m also not an expert nor member of the military.

Thanks in advance.
