A slap in the face from Fox News Murdoch for Trump

Court coverage for Trump has long been blamed on Fox News. But yesterday the station surprisingly announced Biden as the winner in Arizona. Trump then calls furious Fox boss Murdoch. The relationship between the two has cooled off for a long time. Strange things seemed to be going on yesterday on Fox News, actually known as the US President’s “favorite station”. Early in the morning German time it was said there: “Former astronaut Mark Kelly beats Republican Senator Martha McSally in Arizona, predicts Fox News.” While the media, often criticized by Donald Trump — CNN or MSNBC — still describe the state as undecided, the matter was clear to Fox News yesterday morning.

And Fox News also currently sees the challenger Joe Biden with a significantly more lead over Trump. At CNN, the Democratic candidate is ahead with 253 to 213 voters. At Fox News, Biden already has 264 votes for sure, Trump is there at 214. If Biden continues to catch up, it could be the Trump-friendly broadcaster, of all people, who will be the first to announce the Democrat’s victory. That may not fit the picture that has solidified over Fox News over the past few years. Has the mood at the station towards Trump suddenly changed — and that of all things with election reporting? The president himself apparently had the same fear. According to a report in Vanity Fair magazine, shortly after Fox News Arizona struck his competitor, Trump picked up the phone and called Rupert Murdoch. The Australian-American media entrepreneur is the founder and head of Fox Corporation. According to the report, Trump yelled at the 89-year-old on the phone and demanded that Fox News reverse the decision — in vain. According to “Vanity Fair” Murdoch refused. But not only Trump and his team did the station’s actions cause angry reactions. The magazine reports that there has been trouble within the Fox editorial team because of the Arizona report. A Fox employee is quoted as saying that they have actually “bent” in order to counter the impression that they are on the side of Trump when reporting the election. Now, according to the station, several Republicans are accusing “Vanity Fair” of having set the narrative that Biden wins. “Fox News misrepresented its reporting and suppressed votes yesterday,” former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg told the magazine.
