In Sweden, the health authorities are reporting 1870 new cases. That’s the highest number since the pandemic started. The previous peak was 1698 new positive tests within 24 hours and dates from the end of June. According to the authorities, the maximum values in spring are likely to have been much higher because they were not recorded due to a lack of adequate tests. Sweden is taking a special route that is highly regarded internationally in the Corona crisis with significantly fewer restrictions on public life. The number of deaths in relation to the size of the population is much higher than in neighboring Scandinavian countries, but lower than in large European countries such as Spain and Great Britain.
