With the pharmaceutical company Sinopharm, a manufacturer in China is now for the first time announcing details on the effectiveness of its corona vaccine. As the company announced, the vaccine should offer 79 percent protection against Covid-19. The publication of the data is an important step for the final approval of the vaccine, of which states outside of China have already secured doses. In China itself there are three other companies in addition to Sinopharm, Anhui Zhifei Longcom, CanSino, and Sinovac, which are in the final phase of vaccine development. So far none of the companies has been granted final approval in Germany. For months now, restricted vaccinations have been carried out in China for certain population groups – for example by members of the military and hospital staff, but also by diplomats and employees of state corporations – even without final approval.
