The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern about the massively accelerated spread of the novel coronavirus in Europe. “We are witnessing an explosion” in the number of cases on the continent, said WHO Regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge. The death rate among those infected with corona is also increasing “gradually”. Kluge called on the European states to take “targeted and appropriate” countermeasures to contain the pandemic. However, the schools should remain open “until the end” and only stop classroom teaching in extreme cases.
