TV remote duel with soil under drugs? – Trump acts like on steroids

Instead of another face-to-face TV duel, US President Trump and his challenger Biden compete in a long-distance duel. They answer questions from voters on different channels at the same time. Trump causes the next scandal and receives an unexpected compliment. What was on the US television screens late Thursday evening was a strange spectacle. On one channel, NBC, President Donald Trump received voting questions; on the other, ABC, his challenger Joe Biden gave answers. Both should originally do this together, but the second TV debate planned for the evening was canceled due to Trump’s corona infection. Trump had rejected a purely virtual live debate, among other things because you could turn off his microphone at any time, as he said. So now two separate voter surveys. After the interruption orgy at the first TV duel with Biden, hardly anyone should have missed a continuation of it.

Excitement in TV remote duel Trump refuses to condemn “QAnon”

Trump appeared in Miami, looked energetic, but not particularly focused – if you didn’t know about the topics, at least some of his answer tirades might not have made sense. He looked like he was still taking the steroids he was on after he got Covid-19. What remains of the evening is that he expressly did not distance himself from the breathtakingly absurd conspiracy fantasy “QAnon”, even in response to multiple requests from the presenter. Its supporters believe, among other things, that the Democrats run a pedophile ring and that President Trump is the savior of the children. “Are you distanceing yourself from that once and for all?” Asked NBC star presenter Savannah Guthrie. The president claimed he knew nothing about QAnon, he only knew that its supporters were “strongly against pedophilia”. And he is too. Guthrie quoted Republican Senator Ben Sasse as saying in August: “Real leaders debunk crazy conspiracy theories.” Trump didn’t care. “I just don’t know anything about her,” he claimed. After he did not distance himself clearly from racists who believe in the superiority of whites in the first TV duel, he produced the next scandal.

“Didn’t speak to her” Trump dodges the question about the Supreme Court candidate

Less than 2000 kilometers further north, in Philadelphia, Joe Biden presented a completely different picture. As rumbling and untamed Trump was, his challenger appeared calm and matter-of-fact. His biggest weakness is his old age of almost 78 years, which you notice again and again. But that evening he had a good day. He appeared fresher and more present than in previous appearances, analyzed instead of accusing, argued instead of insulting and shone with detailed knowledge. When asked about the corona pandemic, Biden practically only needed to retell Trump’s erratic behavior to make him look bad. It helped him not to be constantly slapped by the president. It got exciting with Trump on two topics: his tax return and the nomination of the judge for the highest court of justice, Amy Coney Barrett. The New York Times had revealed that Trump, who cultivates his image as a billionaire, had only paid $ 750 in taxes in two years and had more than $ 400 million in debt, which would also be due in the coming years. Since then, critical journalists have wanted to know who he owes the money to. Trump said the numbers were wrong, but did not deny that he is actually in the chalk with this sum. “That’s only a small part of my fortune,” he said. They are mortgages. “I don’t owe Russia or any of these sinister people any money,” he said.

Trump was emphatically reluctant to answer questions about the appeal of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the country’s highest court. Guthrie asked him if he thought Barrett would vote on his behalf. He did not make any agreements with her, said Trump. If the outcome of the election is unclear and it ends up before the highest court, they will decide in one direction or the other. She will also judge freely on the subject of abortion. He didn’t even want to say how he felt about abortions. “I’ve been told it’s best not to talk to her about it,” he said. Trump seems to have learned from the James Comey case – the FBI director whom he asked at the beginning of his tenure to stop investigations against his then security advisor, which eventually led to the appointment of special investigator Robert Mueller.
Trump warms up old phrases

In Philadelphia, Biden criticized Trump and the Republicans for appointing the judge now, at the end of Trump’s term in office. He justified this by saying that the election had already begun – millions of Americans have already voted. “I think this is against the principles of the constitution,” he said. Like his vice-candidate Kamala Harris in the TV duel with Vice President Mike Pence, he avoided the question of whether he would increase the number of highest judges in order to create a balance. “I’m not a fan of it,” he said and said that if he answered the question directly, it would only be a matter of whether he really did it. That is exactly what Trump wants. He wanted to distract. The focus must remain on what is happening and whether it is okay that a judge is appointed to the highest court so late in a term of office. The fact that Biden evades the question is also likely to have something to do with the fact that he does not want to alienate the young savages on the left or the moderates in the middle.

“Roller coaster of symptoms” Melania comments on Covid disease for the first time

Trump didn’t cut a good figure answering voter concerns. He didn’t get any particularly critical questions. An elderly lady even said he had such a beautiful smile. He was so handsome, she said and beamed. But in his answers Trump remained vague, mainly provided woodcut-like phrases. He would abolish and improve the current health insurance (“Obamacare”) – that was one of his slogans four years ago. Again he didn’t say how he wanted to do it. The economy will be doing better than ever after the pandemic – he left it open what exactly he wants to do about it. And anyway: China is solely to blame for the pandemic and the fact that there is still no new aid package is the responsibility of the Democrats, who simply do not want it. What they would deny. It is questionable whether this evening will really have any effect on the election. Well over 90 percent of the voters have already made up their minds, and you really have to look for the undecided with a magnifying glass. Trump did little to address them or even to make an offer to Biden sympathizers. As usual, he claimed to be a great president, the economy was doing great and getting better, and Biden was going to destroy the country. Anyone who did not think of Trump before that evening should not have changed this opinion. With his solid appearance, Biden could have strengthened his sympathizers and possibly convinced one or the other undecided of himself. But he will not have split the Trump camp either. The next big chance for candidates to convince voters is on October 22nd. Then the last TV duel is on – if nothing comes up.
