Strong Florida and Texas numbers keep Trump in the game

The first big decision of election night is announced: US President Trump is clearly ahead in the embattled state of Florida. This not only saves his prospects for a second term in office, he catapults them to new heights. It must have been several stones that fell from the heart of US President Donald Trump. The incumbent is clearly ahead in the Florida election – in the state that has the power to decide the race early. If his challenger Biden wins there, it would have been for Trump. He only had theoretical chances of a second term in office. But it is very likely that things will turn out differently. Surprisingly early and surprisingly clear, Trump success with a good three percentage points is evident. This heralds the first big decision on election night. An official final result is not yet available, but even Biden advisors said the state was moving out of reach, according to CNN. The “New York Times” sees the probability of a final Trump victory at 95 percent (as of 5 o’clock). Early in the morning, Fox News announced the president as the winner. At this point, 98 percent of the votes had been counted. Trump’s lead was 3.5 percentage points.

Trump fights for second term Americans elect new president

As the poll expert Nate Silver of the election portal Fivethirtyeight said on ABC News, Trump’s chances of re-election improve significantly with a win in Florida. Before the election night, Silver and his team had only calculated a ten percent chance of victory. Now this could increase to 33 percent, according to the expert. Even before November 3rd, the experts agreed that Trump’s path to a new term would lead through the state in the southeastern United States. But Arizona is especially exciting in the early morning. There Biden is clearly ahead after counting 73 percent of the votes. As usual, absentee votes are likely to be overrepresented here. Fox News, however, already announced Biden as the winner there – that would be a disaster for Trump and send his challenger onto the road to victory. If Biden actually wins Arizona, Trump would have to defend Pennsylvania and Michigan or Wisconsin. In the other contested southern states, things are looking good for the president. The Democrats had high hopes for Georgia and North Carolina as well. In Georgia, things aren’t looking good for Biden after a good third of the vote is counted. Trump leads there by a large margin, North Carolina looks a little closer, but in both states the “New York Times” (as of 5 o’clock) sees Trump ahead.
