The vaccine “Sputnik V” may not yet have been tested with certainty by international standards. Russia is still starting to administer it to the population. 70 vaccination centers are starting work in Moscow. Large-scale vaccinations against the coronavirus have started in Russia. In 70 Moscow clinics in the morning vaccinations with the vaccine “Sputnik V” developed in the country started. This was announced by the capital’s operational staff. First, employees in education, health and social services were vaccinated against Covid-19. Thousands of people had made an appointment for the official vaccination start via an online registration service. The vaccinations are free and voluntary. Initially, only volunteers who have a lot of professional contact with other people and are therefore exposed to a particular risk of contracting the coronavirus were initially admitted. People who have had injections in the past 30 days or who have had respiratory problems in the past two weeks are excluded, as are people with certain chronic diseases, and pregnant and breastfeeding women. After the first dose, a second injection is necessary after 21 days.

According to the BBC, vaccination candidates must answer general health questions before being given the shot. The vaccine is taken out of the freezer about 15 minutes before use. Moscow recorded 7,993 new infections on Saturday – more than ever in one day. Across the country there was a record high of 28,782 new cases. So far, Russia has recorded 2,431,731 infections and 42,684 deaths. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin had initially announced the start of mass vaccination in Russia for next week. Accordingly, around two million vaccine doses should be administered in December. However, Russia has problems producing the vaccine in large quantities. Russia was the first country in the world to approve a vaccine for widespread use and has already vaccinated tens of thousands of volunteers. Other vaccines are also being developed. The effectiveness of “Sputnik V” is given as 95 percent. Independent studies on the Russian vaccine are not yet known.
