In the EU and its most important European partner countries, more than 200,000 people have now died in connection with Covid-19 disease. As emerged this Sunday from the daily updated figures of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), there have so far been 200,587 reported deaths in the European Economic Area (EEA) including Great Britain with almost 4.8 million confirmed infections. Most of the deaths were recorded in the United Kingdom (43,579), Italy (36,474), Spain (33,775), France (33,392), Belgium (10,392) and Germany (9777). Among the 15 countries in the area with the most total infections, Germany has by far the lowest number of infections and death rates as measured by the population in the past 14 days, together with Sweden. In addition to the 27 EU states, the EEA also includes Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein; the ECDC also includes the former EU member Great Britain. Not included in these values ​​is Switzerland, which, according to the Stockholm-based center, has 1822 deaths in connection with Covid-19 with more than 74,000 infections.
